Plight of OFW

I just read this caption a while ago but missed to read the content of the article. But somehow I can predict whats in there being an OFW myself :)

As I am turning 5 years in this foreign land and since then I am calling it my second home. This is where my greener pasture lies and I welcome the sun here kissing my daily life. But there are one thousand and one stories of OFW here.

Just recently, I met a domestic woker who seemed to be infuriated of her destiny. After few conversation lines, she admitted she was irked how the master as she referred to treated her. As I may say she was abused. She was only allowed to eat when the family has finished their meal and what's only left most of the times were not enough for her to overcomeOFW her hunger. She was prohibited to use mobile phone as its disruptive of her daily tasks. And worst which is actually the not uncommon here, she was only drawing $20 for each month of service for the first six months. The rest of her salary went to the agency as per contract. She is only on her 4th month but it seems like she is already staying her 4 years judging the way she laments on her job.

My heart goes to her, not just because I am being compassionate for a kababayan but i will feel the same for anyone else being inhumanely treated. My heart goes to her being away from her kids with a dream to make their lives better, would the $20 make a difference? My heart goes to her, I can only lend my ears and say a prayer for her to keep struggling.

I have worked in the government sector dealing with this kind of foreign abuses and I have heard few stories but still personally dealing is entirely bringing me to a different level. But being in a foreign land, I can do less as the person itself allows abuses rather than report it.
